The peppers are finally ripening — better late tha The peppers are finally ripening — better late than never! 🌶️

Although you can eat them green, they’re even better when ripened, and add a lovely bit of colour too.

It’s October and we’re still harvesting an abundance of summer crops for our boxes from the tunnel — aubergines, cucumbers and plenty of different tomatoes.

Today is the first day of October, and from now on more and more leafy greens and stored roots will be filling our boxes. But for now, we’re still enjoying the taste of summer. 🍅🥒🌿

Meet Romanesco cauliflower. If you’ve never tried Meet Romanesco cauliflower.

If you’ve never tried it before, Romanesco is a beautiful member of the cauliflower family, with those amazing spiralling florets and a lovely, slightly nutty flavour.

It’s really versatile too!

You can eat it raw, cut into little florets for salads, dips or a crunchy snack. Or try it roasted with a little olive oil and seasoning, steamed until just tender, or lightly sautéed in a pan. Don’t overcook it though it’s best when it still has a little bite.

Romanesco will be making an appearance in this week’s veg boxes!
Beautiful, local, and now available in New Ross! Beautiful, local, and now available in New Ross!

There’s something pretty special about a basket of homegrown tomatoes especially when every one is a little different.

Our latest harvest is a gorgeous mix of heirloom varieties, bringing together different shapes, colours, sizes and, most importantly, incredible flavour.

These aren’t your ordinary supermarket tomatoes. Many of these varieties are rarely found in supermarkets, which is what makes them so special.

And now, you can find them locally at Butchers Best, New Ross. 🥰

Perfect for salads, sandwiches, bruschetta, cooking or simply sliced, sprinkled with a little salt and enjoyed exactly as they are.

📍 Available locally at @butchersbest.ie New Ross
The tenderstem broccoli is some of the best we've The tenderstem broccoli is some of the best we've grown. It's been protected under insect netting from day one, so there's been no need for sprays or pesticides.

The only feed it's had is a fresh dressing of compost before planting. From there, it's the soil biology doing the work. Feeding the plants through a healthy microbial network, rather than relying on synthetic fertilisers cooked up in a lab.

It's been a busy few months here at Wexford Organi It's been a busy few months here at Wexford Organics.

We've expanded our no-dig growing beds by over 150%, filled our first polytunnel with tomatoes, peppers, chillies, cucumbers and plenty of other summer crops, and now our second, even larger tunnel is taking shape. Once complete, it'll help us keep fresh salads growing for much more of the year.

The farm has grown in more ways than one too. We're now supplying local restaurants with fresh seasonal produce, and our weekly veg box scheme is thriving, connecting more people with vegetables grown right here in Wexford.

Pictured is the frame of our newest polytunnel, with rows of tenderstem broccoli, Romanesco, cauliflower and kale in the foreground. Every week the farm looks a little different, and it's rewarding to see everything coming together.

Meet Azur Star Kohlrabi 💜 If you've never come ac Meet Azur Star Kohlrabi 💜

If you've never come across kohlrabi before, you're not alone. Despite looking like something from another planet, it's actually a member of the brassica family, related to cabbage, broccoli and kale.

The crisp white flesh has a mild, sweet flavour somewhere between a broccoli stem and an apple, making it one of the most versatile vegetables we grow.

The easiest way to enjoy it? Peel away the purple skin and slice it into sticks for a crunchy snack, grate it into salads or slaws, or roast it alongside potatoes and carrots. The leaves are edible too and can be cooked just like kale.

This vibrant Azur Star variety is one of our favourites on the farm. Beautiful to look at, quick to grow and packed with flavour.

Have you ever tried kohlrabi before?
